Energy Psychology is a holistic approach to psychotherapy that combines concepts and techniques from psychology with practices such as acupuncture.This approach operates under the belief that the body and mind are interconnected, and that emotional issues can be resolved by working with the body's energy systems.One of the central principles of Energy Psychology is that emotional distress can manifest as a disturbance in the body's energy flow. Practitioners use various techniques, including tapping on specific acupressure points, to release these blockages and facilitate healing.Studies suggest that it can effectively reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. A 2004 study found that acupoint tapping was highly effective for treating psychiatric conditions. A preliminary study with 5,000 anxiety patients over 5-1/2 years showed that 90% of the acupoint tapping group experienced improvement, compared to 63% in the cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) group. Follow-up showed that 78% of the acupoint tapping group sustained their benefits.In a sub-study of 190 successfully treated patients, acupoint tapping took an average of only 3 sessions to eliminate anxiety, while CBT took an average of 15 sessions. These results suggest that acupoint tapping may be a powerful tool for treating anxiety and other psychiatric conditions.
